DCCGS
AGM
Held in the Coaver Club Library on Monday 30th June 2003
Present:_ Bob Jones, Neville Taylor, Dave Cowler, Steve Spicer, John Lovegrove, Dave Callaby, John Barnard, Nick Maye and Mike Downing
Apologies were received from Charles Wray and Chris Glover.
The venues for 2004 were discussed and the following was decided:
1. The Society finances stood at £202 on the day of the meeting - Mike Downing made the point that back in February, when we had to pay a £50 deposit to Tiverton Golf Club for the Three Shires match in September as well as buying the prizes for the Winter meeting at the Warren
in April, DCCGS had no funds to finance these expenses and so they were paid personally by Mike, who was subsequently reimbursed. However, having said that there should be enough in the kitty to meet such costs in February 2004. An extra engraving expense of £14 was incurred for a new engraved plate - the old one fell off one of the perpetual trophies and was lost.
2. A suggestion was made to make the stroke allowance for our competitions to be full handicap - however, after some discussion it has been decided to keep the main comps as 7/8 stablefords.
3. Bob Jones is the new captain of DCCGS and he's chosen Steve Spicer as his vice-captain.
4. Having supported the Turntable Furniture charity event in 2003 it was agreed that DCCGS will support the Children's Hospice South-West (Honiton Lions Club) charity event in 2004.
5. It was debated as to whether John Lovegrove and Vic Fox should have a special 'Society handicap' in view of their performances in the Lyme Regis meeting. However, the majority felt their handicaps should not be so affected.
6. Mike Downing mentioned that a Competitions Directory is produced annually by a Mr Taylor from Crediton, and should any member of DCCGS wish to see this publication then please contact Mike. Broadly it provides full details of open competitions for all the clubs in the South-West which hold meetings for visiting golfers, and includes the cost of entering such comps.
7. As an experiment, and on a suggestion from outgoing captain Neville, at one of next year's 3 meetings we'll be trying coffee on arrival, bacon bap for lunch and a two-course evening meal on a rolling basis.
