John Smith confirmed as the new captain from 1st July. New vice captain not yet finalised.
MD explained a practical problem with funding the cost of deposits, which many clubs now ask for. It was suggested that if people wishing to play would pay some or even all of the cost of the day in advance, the society would have sufficient cash-flow to meet the cost of deposits for future events. This would mean entries being notified to Neville but cheques (payable to DCCGS) sent to Mike Downing, Room G96 at County Hall.
Those present expressed satisfaction with both the value and nature of the prizes.
The financial position stands at £42 - it is estimated the balance after the end of the season will be around £150.
MD explained that the larger brandy glasses (given as prizes) appeared to no longer be available from any local suppliers other than Dingles at £32 each (not engraved). This was why the glasses given this year are a lot smaller.

It is not the turn of the DCCGS to arrange the South Coast Salver or 3 Shires matches in 2002.
It is hoped to experiment again with eating after the conclusion of play, as was tried (unsuccessfully) at Taunton & Pickeridge in October 2000.
