While you'd love to trust the Soviet Union's leader, Khrushchev, at his word, the stakes are just a little too high.

Under your order, the air force steps up the number of U-2 spy plane missions over Cuba, hoping to find out just what is going on in the forests there.

And find out they do...

On October 8th, the U-2 spy planes discover 9 missile sites under construction.

After analysis by the CIA and military, it was determined that the sites were being designed for medium range ballistic missiles. These missiles would put nearly all of the United States in range.

After even closer inspection, and more U-2 flights, missiles were discovered near the sites, waiting for the sites to be ready.

Castro and Cuba did not have a nuclear weapons program or missile program, so someone else had to be behind the sites.

There was only one possibility of who it was...
