American Response I

Eisenhower never responds to your letter. Perhaps it was lost or perhaps he was busy wrapping up his term.

You hope that he was not so enraged that he refused to respond. He surely must be a reasonable man.

In the meantime, however, the American people have elected a new leader. This man, this Jack Kennedy, is young, much younger than his predecessor.

What do you do?

1. Write a similar note to Kennedy. Perhaps, with both of you young leaders, you can find some common ground and create a lasting relationship between the two countries. If one can be reached, it would be a lucrative proposition that could help all the Cuban people.

2. Ignore the change in leadership. If Kennedy wishes to touch base with you, he must be the first to act.
