Minutes
1) Welcome (Paul O'Donnell)
- Moment of silence for crescent beach Mrs. Vachon a long time community member who passed this summer.
2) Secretary report summary of last meeting (Rob Jahn)
- Recap of spring raft repair, new signs, reminder of rules
- Website updated with minutes from July 2012 meeting.
- Motion was passed to accept the secretaries report
3) Treasurer’s report (Sue O'Hara) ** See attachment below for actual report
- very good response to 2012 dues. Over $7000 collected from over 120+ households
- in very good financial shape in both expense and capital funds.
- reviewed history of last several years where previously expenses paid as they arose. Now have capital fund for the raft and Raymond hall. Monies from these funds in the last few years have paid for new roof, footing work, lighting, raft repairs
4) Directory committee update (Bev Gleason)
- pictures have been taken
- street captains have been good to collect forms. But still have gaps
- Bev and Russ Gleason have been manning a table at the beach to collect information as well
- A motion as passed to have the directory be only a printed copy rather than electronically distributed.
- next step is to publish a draft directory or final edits for the 2012 July meeting. A to be determined fee will be changed for a copy of the printed directory.
- information such as beach rules that are in the old directory will be posted to web site
5) raft Updates (Howie O'Hara)
- Bob Nichols has taken over the responsibly of the swim lines from Howie O'Hara.
- Thank you to Patrick O'Donnell who has been going out to the raft weekly to scrape barnacles off the ladders
- The winter raft repairs for this year will just be normal maintenance. Nothing special is expected
- the swim lines broke free this year because their moorings aged out. Over the winter is to use railroad wheels as to re-attach for next year.
6) Other new business (Paul O'Donnell)
- Thank you to all the volunteers this summer who have helped with cookouts, taking care of the raft and Raymond hall, and other CBIA events
- A reminder of the rules of no water craft in the swim area and that it is a Massachusetts law that boats and kayaks is eligible for a fine which the Harbor Master can issue. The plan is for a sign to be added to the raft as a reminder of this rule.
- A reminder that glass bottles are not allowed on the beach and especially not allowed in the water. Please spread the word on this.
- The 2012 coffee hours have had good turn out this year. If you are interested in hosting one in 2013, please reach out to Bev Gleason or Mary O'Keefe.
- The 2012 family picnic was very good this year. Bob Nichols also was also able to feed more for less money than 2011. Bob requested that the first Saturday of August be set as the date going forward so that he can plan for next year. That means August 3rd will be the date for 2013.
7) Raymond Hall improvement
- Paul O'Donnell presented plan to do capital improvements to the hall using a budget of $4000. This will include outside painting, casements to windows, lattice, inside painting, new chairs, removal of overgrowth in backyard.
- A motion was passed to use $2500 from general expense fund and $1500 from the Raymond hall capital fund
8) 2013 CBIA officers
- A motion was passed to keep the current officers: Paul O'Donnell (President), Sue O'Hara (treasurer), Barbara Curley (vice president), Rob Jahn (secretary)
