CBIA Meeting minutes - July, 2014
Mattapoisett Land Trust Presentation
Attending Officers: Paul O'Donnell, Sue O'Hara, Rob Jahn, Deb Lezama.

Treasure report - Sue O'Hara
Sue presented where money coming from, where going. Goal is to have a secure position for capital expenses such as storm damage to raft and capital improvements such as to Raymond hall. Here is the treasurer summary, but detailed report provided in the meeting.
· $13,249.31 start balance
· Dues + tshirts + directory + Koozie sales: $ 8,107.00
· expenses: $ 13,872.21
· end balance: $ 7,484.10
· CD balance: $17,372.14
· motion passed to approve treasurer report
Old Business – Paul O’Donnell
A thank you was given to the many volunteers and contributors to the CBIA
· Raymond hall renovations; Howie O'Hara and his brother, Christian McCullough, Paul O'Hara, Sue O'Hara. Changes include:
o Changed entrance new stairs
o New siding to front
o Slats on bottom of building
o New lighting on the deck side
· Raft and Lines: Bob Nichols & Howie O’Hara
o New signs to raft to say boats in swim area
o Two new anchors on raft added
o Request to lengthen the line. Western side added 15 to 18th feet, but still is small opening due to jetty. Eastern side is the same length.
o Proposal to vote on august meeting to get new rope. Bob to get estimate for August meeting.
· Beach is semi private. Registered with the state and comes with certain responsibilities such as:
o Water testing weekly each Monday. Results Tuesday.
o Signage
o Safety
· Activities. Posted to website too:
o Kids Races on 1pm Sunday 7/6 with ice cream
o Summer Art Show – Saturday July 26th. 3 artists. 10am – 1pm
o Family Cookout
§ Will plan to use web tool (evite) for getting head count for cbia members Aug 2rd.
§ Need volunteers for tables
o Labor day meeting Aug 31st
o Coffee Hours. Signs will be posted. 3 scheduled so far.
o 2013 directory – 24 copies still available. $20/each. See Russ and Bev Gleason for your copy.
New business - Paul O'Donnell
· Mattapoisett Land Trust Presentation
o Ozzie & Skip.
o Group presentations to stimulate membership. Handed out brochures 13 volunteers.
o Mission is acquiring properties that are unique. Core habitat
o 25k/year – fees, assessments, improvements. $50/family. $30/person. Seeking 400 family members. Have 200 now.
o Web site www.Mattlandtrust.org – to donate
· Beach use by non-residents
o Want to make sure we have the facts before take it to next level. Read a draft letter that might be used if had a habitual trespasser.
o There maybe landowners without cottage and pay taxes and dues.
o Follow all state and town guidelines for private beach and pay dues and signage. Pay for water testing and swim raft and lines.
o Benefits do not extend to non-members, non-guests, non-residents.
