Treasure report - Sue O'Hara

Sue explained that she has researched CD rates and will be planning to move some the expiring CDs into higher rates that are paying now roughly 1.5+%. Previously, we had been receiving 0.55% and 0.75%. This higher rate will to improve the general funds interest income.

A detailed report was provided in the meeting and will be posted on the CBIA web site. Below is a summary of the treasurer’s report for 9/1/16 to 6/30/17:

  • Starting balance - $ 12,437.32
  • Monies Received from Dues: $ 11,125.00 (see NOTE (1) below)
  • Expenses: $ 10,276.94 (NOTE (2) below)
  • Ending balance: $ 13,285.38
  • CD balance: $ 23,551.21

NOTES:

1) A general donation was made in memory of Joe Linnehan of $425

2) 3K from general funds was moved to Raymond Hall replenish this account. This was approved in the Labor day 2016 meeting.

Secretary Report from July 2016 Meeting – Rob Jahn

  • Meeting minutes from last meeting and this meeting will be posted to website: www.crescentbeachma.com
  • Key items recapped from last CBIA meeting were:
    • Treasures report was presented a motion was passed to accept the report
    • Thank you made to all 2016 season volunteers
    • Existing officers were approved for re-election. Paul announced that he will be stepping down as president in 2017. New elections will be help in the Labor day 2017 meeting.

Old Business - Paul O’Donnell

1) Raft is in & lines are in Tues the June 27th. There was some delay by the boat year this year as they dealt with dealing with the backlog from the pre-summer weather.

2) Beach registration is complete. Water testing is planning on-going for the next 10 weeks. If there are any issues, signage will be posted at all three entrances.

3) Beach seaweed cleaning is behind. A full crew has been identified by Paul and the crew will start at the start of July.

4) Reminder that all beach fires needs a permit from fire department. Fire department rules must be followed. The main message is no fire in the sand and CLEAN up.

5) Raymond hall will be open for kids Tue & Sat 6-9pm over the course of the summer. The teenagers running the events will be planning for pizza and sundae nights. Watch the beach and Raymond hall for signs with more details.

6) 4 coffee hours are currently planned this summer. July 13st is first get together hosted by the Bicks hours (marsh end of Silvershell). Please see posted signs or ask Ben Gleason or Mary O’Keefe for details.

7) The family cookout is still on for this year on August 5th. Like always, volunteers to help setup, cook and cleanup are sought. Bob requests that people bring desserts rather than salads. Please Respond to the CBIA evite that will be sent out near the end of July to help provide head counts.

8) Next CBIA meeting is Sunday September 4th followed by the Labor Day beach races.

New Business

1) The CBIA board is trying out Google Groups as a way to improve communications and allowing people to opt-in/out of messages.

a. All existing mailing list members added.

b. If you use GMAIL, just search Google groups – “Crescent Beach Improvement Association (CBIA)” at https://groups.google.com and then request membership.

c. If you do NOT use GMAIL, please send name, beach address to mattacbia@gmail.com with request to be added.

2) A lot of Fox siting’s have been. The understanding is that the Department of wildlife – State agency is controlling agency. The local animal control will not get involved unless animals a rabid. So please take caution and don’t leave open trash or unattended animals and small children.

3) The Raft is 10 years old and showing age. Howie requested that a spare spring and steel base be in supply. Cost is estimated at $300.

a. MOTION: TO approve treasure to budget $300. Passed

4) A collection of Lost and found items are in Raymond Hall. Items of note are: a red small plastic child’s change purse with a few coins and a women’s watch found 2 years ago.

5) Discussion was held for the replacement to “we love our children” sign. This will be taken off line with family’s who intend to make a donation to replace the sign.

6) Notice of a few broken CBIA parking signs. In particular the one on Marston Court. There was no need for a motion, the CBIA Board will coordination and pay for replacement.

7) Labor Day Cookout is still scheduled and a electronic evite will be sent to get head counts. The request for items to bring is for desserts not salads. Volunteers again needed. To help, contact Bob @ CBcrescentbch@comcast.net
