Old Business

Secretary’s Report Rob Jahn

Treasurer’s Report Sue O’Hara

Volunteers’ Reports

  • Deb created folders for each volunteer and function. For example, this folder can document role responsibilities, contact information, journal of actions, place for receipts, etc.
  • Seaweed – Nicholas Roberts,Michael Taylor, Elizabeth Hall, Liam and Asa Rosenfield, Jason and Liam Newman, Noah Willett and Bailey Howard – This crew cleaned every Mon., Wed., and Fri. 730am – 930am. Thank you for Paul O’Donnell for coordination. Also see Paul for next year.
  • Coffee Hours – 2 hosted this summer. Thank you Fran McIntyre and Marianne Hickey for hosting. Thank you Bev for posting signs, emails, and coordination.
  • Raft – The raft will be pulled Tue Sept 3rd. Over the winter we expect repairs including new base we purchased last year and the ladders being bolted to the raft. Over the summer, kids that were diving off ladders, so having them bolted to raft will hopefully prevent this. Thank you Howie for coordinating repairs, launch, and storage.
  • Kids Night – Had a pizza party and good nights. Thank you Elizabeth Hall for all your efforts running the events.
  • Flag Riser – Gus Marchetti – thank you for 28 years of raising the flag. Gus is looking for someone for this next year. Please see a CBIA officer or Gus if you are interested.
  • Directory – Out of date. Need volunteers to update information and a committee lead to drive picking the right tool to maintain information.
  • Cocktail Party – Thank you to Fines for hosting and all the volunteers to make this a successful night.
  • Cookout – Went well. Thank you Mary and Phil Spillane for coordinating and the all the volunteers setting up tables, cooking, and cleaning up. Over 160 people attended the cookout this year.
  • Hat Sales – Thank you Jackie for the hat sales this year. There are 10 left, so please see Jackie if you are interested.

New Business

  • Beach RakersA motion was passed to raise min wage for 2020 beach rakers from $10/hour to $15/hour was approved. Currently, we pay $10/hour and kids average about $200/summer.
  • Beach renewal – Deb met with engineer and talked to conservation commission in town. An engineering plan is estimated to be $12K. Plan would entail dumping sand up from high water mark to the sea grass. Estimate cost for executing the plan is $15K-$19K.

Overall, we still have questions about what happens once replenish and there are lots of opinions. We need more study of other towns. Sue Fine is helping in this front, but others welcome to help in the research.

  • Raymond hall – We have 20+ keys floating around and once over the summer the hall was left open and unattended. Next year we likely purchase a new set of locks.
  • Land Trust -- Mike Huguenin from the trust shared an update and answered questions on their plans
    • Plan is to add new 3 access points, 2 with parking spaces
      • One lot will be on right after bridge going to Point Connett. This will have gravel area for 6 cars with a walkway from the road to the mouth of creek. Walkway will be on stilts with wooded planks and then down into water. They will also have racks for 12-16 Kayaks.
      • Second lot will be next to Oliver Wendell Holmes historic site next to pumping station. This will have gravel area for 4 cars or a school bus.
      • They plan for a trail access point at the end of beach or waterman. Trust wants a trail connection here since that area of the woods is higher ground and will connect to other trails. End of these streets is also not wet-lands.
    • Trail access points will have a kiosk with rules & maps. Typical land trust signs state “no motorized vehicles & trail open only dawn to dusk”
    • Expect Hiller land purchase to close at the end of September. Expect to start surveys in Octobers for trail access points. Even with pledges they still need $40-$50K of $1.5M goal.
    • There was a lot of concern about adding parking at the ends of Beach or Waterman. Mike pledged to not have this.
    • A motion was passed to donate $5000 from the legal fund as a donation from the CBIA association to the Land Trust with the provision there will be no gravel lot at end of the Beach or Waterman streets.
