Minutes

1) Welcome (Paul O'Donnell)

- Moment of silence for crescent beach residents whom passed in last year

Jack Egan, Helen England Kenison, Mack DiCarlo

- Introduce new officers: Barbara Hurley new vice president (former secretary) and Rob Jahn new secretary

1) Secretary report summary of last meeting (Barbara Curley)

- Meeting minutes and CBIA dues forms mailed out this spring

- Motion was passed to accept the secretaries report

2) Treasurer’s report (Sue O'Hara)

- Roughly 85 households have sent in the 2012 dues have been collected. Please use form or hand delivery to a CBIA Officer if you have not sent in already. 2012 CBIA stickers (green this year) are available for pickup through Sue O'Hara or Barbara Curley.

- Raft repairs were paid out of general fund since the raft repair CD has not matured. Once it does the monies from the CD will be transfer back to the general fund.

3) Old Business (Paul O'Donnell)

> Point Connett association asked that non-residents not use the Basketball courts

> Fireworks are illegal in Massachusetts. Notify police if you feel there is some issue to be enforced

> Fires on the beach require a permit from fire department and notice to fire department on the day of the fire. Police will enforce illegal fires.

> Boats and kayaks are not permitted in the swim area and no tie-ups to the raft are permitted. The Swim lines are expected to go up July 4th week.

> Crosswalk signs are no allowed by the town police to put in the crosswalk. They must be placed on the side of the road

> Speeding remains an issue.

-- The board has spoken to the town police about the issue. They recommended location for signs and recommend taking license plate of repeat offenders and notifying them. Board will keep the conversations going with the police and request the additional signs on the stretch leading to point connett.

-- recommend calling Comcast, UPS, etc customer support to report speeders

4) Signage committee update (Jeremy Collier)

- 14 Private way speed limit signs from Creek to Wendell were put up in the fall and all remaining signs put in late spring. Signs are PCV posts and font matched the beach signs put up last year. Signs and the wording for the signs approved in last fall CBIA meeting.

- The second bulletin board box not built. Options are to wait for contractor or seek updated quote with back up contractor. Jeremy to followup on dates and costs of back-up contractor. quote for current contractor is $200. Quote for backup contractor is $400.

- Crosswalk signs were purchased last year and will be setup week of July 4th. The plan going forward is to have these signs put out week of July 4th and take down after Labor Day.

5) Raft Repair Update (Howie O'hara)

- Extensive damage to underlying structures in the fall storm. Surface boards and pontoons intact.

- Diving board new spring and stand

- Expecting $1300 invoice for replacement of lost moorings in last fall’s storm. New moorings are pyramid with navy chain

- The Mattapoisett Boat Yard will pull in the raft when wind exceeds 40 knots and place on a safe mooring.

- In the fall will the Boat Yard will add additional moorings as to have 4 total.

6) Upcoming events (Paul O'Donnell)

> Art Show planned for July 21st @ Raymond Hall

> July 4th Beach races planned for 1pm at the beach

> Family BBQ at Raymond Hall will be held again. Date to be finalized.

> Coffee hour Wed July 14th 9am at Linda Traux's home, 23 Angelica Ave. All are welcome.

> Women's luncheon starting 3rd Thursday of every month at the Inn in downtown Mattapoisett. Contact Mary O’Keefe or Bev Gleason for more details

7) Call for Committees volunteers (Paul O'Donnell)

  • Beach Cleaning - Meeting TBD. Sue Fine is committee lead.
  • Activity Schedule for Summer 2012 - still need volunteers. Contact CBIA Board if interested.
  • Updating Directory - Meeting planned for Saturday, July 7th to brainstorm at Bev Gleason's home
  • Weekly Raft barnacle ladder scrapping. Need folks to volunteer. Can get brush from Howie O'Hara. - Patrick O'Donnell volunteered to help.
