Beach Fires Committee Report
In the last meeting, Alan Fine, Andrea Shanley, Victor Horvitz, Alan Pinshaw formed a committee to research the topic of beach fires and report back.
In their report, they stated that they met with the Mattapoisett Chief of Police and Fire Chief. They stated that the CBIA could vote to ban fires like Harbor beach and they would support this. Also, the Town has beach fire regulations that include:
It was the recommendation of the committee to not ban beach fires, but to start with education and signage to the CB community.
>> MOTION Passed to moving forward to purchase and put up beach entrance signs summarizing town regulations. Cost is estimated at $200 per sign. There are 4 beach entrance signs.

Next Years’ Cook out – Deb Lezama
Great turnout again, but this year will be Bob’ last year running it. So, we need someone to drive and own this. If we cannot find an owner, then we will not schedule a 2019 cookout.
Mattapoisett Land Trust acquisition presentation
Buzzards Bay coalition and the Land Trust for last 20 years on the effort to acquire the Hiller land of 125 acres creating over 400 contiguous acres with the other Trust land.
The trust has “penned” a deal for $1.405M for the land would conservatively support 10-12 homes if were developed. The Land Trust now has 2 years to raise the money and finalize their commitments with paid consultation with appraisers and land surveyors to ensure paying fair market price.
The trust is looking to raise $1M from federal and local grants. 125 Acres of high rated wild-life system that helps with grant requests. Since this includes the Justice Holmes historic site off on Angelica, they are looking to also pursue historic preservation funds.

Following the presentation, the CBIA members discussed whether the CBIA should do fund raisers or use part of CBIA dues as a donation. A motion was raised but was rescinded to use $25 of the CBIA 2019 Dues.
