An annual CBIA association fee is asked of all community residents. These monies are used for funding the community/family cookout and beach races, water sampling required by the state, beach cleanings, and the legal fund. CBIA dues fund a variety of projects and events including the ones below. Thank you to all who have helped in the efforts to plan and implement them and to all who volunteered as well to make them a success.
RAFT - Built from "scratch" by Howie O'Hara, 2 Waterman St , in 2007, with the help of his family, and countless kibitzers who stopped by and offered all sorts of ideas and/or advice. Howie "retired" last year and we thank him for his many years of hard work and just being available to handle whatever came up. Jamie Caron, Jeff O'Hara, and Elizabeth Hall have stepped up to handle all raft issues. Your dues pay the boat yard for launching and storage and a replacement diving board that cost close to $900.00
Swimming Safety Buoy Lines - Installed and removed each summer. For years Bob Nichols managed the lines. Christian McCullough has now taken over the lines and Bob is still storing them over the winter. Your dues pays for repairs to lines.
Weekly Water Testing - State regulations require weekly water testing. You dues pay for these tests.
Street & Beach Entrance Signs - Jeremy Collier, 16 Channel St, was the driving force to produce and install uniform street signs with suggested speed limits.
Message Boards - Howie O'Hara designed, built, and installed the boards in 2013. These are used for announcements for CBIA events and other appropriate messages.
Your dues pays for these signs. State regulations require beach entrance signage.
Beach Cleaning - Our preteens have a paid summer job to rake the seaweed off the beach at the swimming areas. Paul O'Donnell has tirelessly organized this for a few years now.
Your dues pays for this labor, but this program has proven to a great way for them to learn the value of money and gain responsibility.
Raymond Hall Remodeling - Again, Howie O'Hara led the charge in 2012-2013 along with the help of Sue O'Hara, Paul O'Hara (electrical), and Christian McCullough to restore Raymond Hall to a better condition than originally built.
This hall is where all meetings, art shows, and kids hangouts are held.
Raymond Hall taxes and Insurance - By far, these are the largest expenses to the CBIA budget.
Your dues pay for taxes and insurance.
Flag Pole - Thad Yukna has stepped up to fill the shoes of Gus Marchetti, who had raised and lowered the Flag at the "Triangle" daily for many years.
Annual CBIA Family Cookout --First Saturday in August. This was started and run by Bob & Carol Nichols for many years. Phil and Mary Spillane have graciously taken over the task, with the help of many volunteers!
Your dues pay for all the food and equipment rental.
