The Wilder Family of Lancaster, Massachusetts and Maine
The Wilder ancestors of Marian Wilder DeJonge and Agnes Wilder McMurdo came originally to Massachusetts in the mid 1600's. They were among the original settlers in the town of Lancaster, Worcester Country, Massachusetts. Our family stayed in the Lancaster area for four generations, until Abel Wilder moved to Temple, Maine in the late 1790's. Abel and his son James Marvel Wilder lived their lives in Maine. James's son, Francis, moved to Philadelphia sometime in the 1850's.His son, James Lewellyn "Lew" Wilder, moved to California in the late 1880's, settling in Tulare.
Agnes Wilder was the last of this Wilder line born with the Wilder name, dying in 1990. There were ten generations of the Wilders in America that we descended from. Lauren Catherine Wlder McMurdo carries the name forward for us.
