Several documents from the early 1800's exist that relate to land acquisitions of William Gamble and his brother, George. Here is a link to a land grand from 1825 for land granted to William Gamble in Tuscarawas County, Ohio, signed in facsimile by President John Quincy Adams. By 1830, both William and George and their families were living in this area, then known as One Leg Township, after a one-legged Indian who originally inhabited the area. Also living in this area was the mother of William and George, who in 1830 was the oldest person living in the township, being listed as having been born sometime between 1730 and 1740.
