This section deals with the ancestry of James Lewellyn Wilder, to the Billings, Baker and Hosmer families who settled in Lincoln, Massachusetts in the 1600's and 1700's. The Hosmers and Billings are among the earliest families to settle in Concord and adjacent Lincoln. The Bakers, who arrived later, were a well known farming family in the 18th and 19th century. Their farm in time became associated with Henry David Thoreau.
