Asaph Thompson the son of

Peter Thomson, the son of

Martha Soule Thomson, the daughter of

Martha Tinkham Soule, the daughter of

Ephraim Tinkham, Jr.

Ephraim Tinkham Jr. is considered an important furniture maker in early New England colonial history. It is believed that other chair makers were taught by him and copied his work. This group of artisans are known as the "Tinkham School". Several chairs that are either known or believed to havevbeen created by Tinkham still exist. When, on occasion they come to auction, they command very high prices.
