Ephraim was a turner, carpenter and chair maker. He moved to Middleboro after King Philip's War. He married Esther Wright on 9 Jun 1676.

It's worth noting that their marriage date corresponds with the period of time when the King Phillip's war had turned clearly in the favor of the colonial English against the Indians.

Tinkam is considered one of the preeminent early colonial New England furniture makers. His work, when it comes to auction, can command prices in excess of $150,000.00

"Son of Sargent Ephraim Tinkham who lived in the same house as his father occupied in Middleboro. Constable in 1681 and claimed a freeman in 1682.
