Wilder, Wood and Thompson family burials in Somerset County, Maine.

Oliver Wood and his first wife, Lucy Hosmer Wood, moved their family from Concord, Massachusetts to Norridgewock Maine in 1774, and lived there until their deaths, she in about 1786, and he in 1814. The Lucy Wood buried with him is actually Lucy Tarbell Wood, his second wife. The burial site of Lucy Hosmer Wood isn't known. Their son, Silas Wood and his wife Sybil raised their family in Norridgewock, as well. Their daughter Mary, known as Polly, married Dr. Asaph Thompson in 1804. Thompson's own family were from Plymouth County, Massachusetts, in the Middleborough and Halifax area. Asaph and Polly Wood Thompson's daughter Hadassah Thompson married James Marvel Wilder, of Temple Maine, in 1828. They settled in the village of North Anson, where their son Francis L. Wilder was born and lived until his twenties, when he moved away--first to Nova Scotia and then to Philadelphia, where he probably met his wife, Anna Wile of Pleasant Valley, New York. Their son, James Lewellyn Wilder, was the father of Marian and Agnes Wilder. The last member of our direct family line to live in Somerset County, Maine was James Marvel Wilder, who died in Kendall's Mills (Fairfield), Maine, in 1864. He is buried next to his first two wives in North Anson, Maine. His third wife's gravesite isn't known.
