28 May 2013: Waves - art, energy and history - invitation

Post date: 11 avr. 2013 11:35:19

Tuesday 28 May we will visit Kystmuseet in Øygarden, where we will have an interesting program related to waves:

  • We will first visit the exhibition of pictures from the Extreme Wave Theory Project of the British painter Janette Kerr. Some sample paintings from this project are also currently shown at the Geophysical Institute in Bergen.
  • After the exhibition, we will watch the historical movie "Wave Power in Norway", before we will have a guided tour (1.5 km walk) to the ruins of the historical wave power plant at Toftestallen, which was built in 1985, and smashed by waves in 1988. The guided tour takes 1.5 hours including guiding. Guiding will be in Norwegian, but there will be many translators in the group for our foreign participants.
  • Warm beta soup (betasuppe) will be served, including bread and refill.

Departure 17:00 from GFI / Met.no (Allegaten 70) with private cars. We will be back in Bergen around 22:00. Earlier or later return might be possible for individual cars.

Prices:

Membership for 2013 costs 50,- for regular and 30,- for students. Cash payment at the event.
