Gear

If I talk about price, and then have something like " (+2) ", that refers to the number of levels the item is above a plain magic item of the same enhancement. For example, Sylvan Armor is mid-priced (+2) armor. +3 Sylvan Cloth is a 13th level item (+3 Magic Cloth is 11th, +2 more for Sylvan and you get 13).

The Short List

As with other sections, I'd like to start off the Equipment section with a "short list" overview.

Implements

For a holy symbol that you don't use, it's hard to beat a Symbol of Victory . The cheapest is +2, IIRC. Half-elves who poach thunderwave probably really like a Master's wand of Thunderwave , but that needs to be kept at-level.

Weapons

The generic best DPR choice is likely Rending , especially if you have some way to increase your crit probability. At lower levels, Jagged will be popular. Two Weapon fighters may want Harmony Blade instead of Rending .

Lightsaber users will want to check with their DM to see if they even need a lightsaber, or if Painful Oath handles things. If you do, choose from Sunblade , Radiant Weapon , or Brilliant Energy Weapon . Sunblade is the lowest level lightsaber (starts at +1), so that will be your training lightsaber. Radiant starts at +3 and is very expensive (+4), but includes Iron Armbands of Power . No matter which lightsaber you choose, pick up a Siberys Shard of Radiance .

Static-based Multiattackers might prefer Battlecrazed , especially if they can't get an enhanced Crit range yet. Once they can, Rending will likely take over.

For those playing without the November 2009 errata, Bloodclaw , Reckless , and Bloodiron are still popular.

Arms

Everyone who uses melee powers really like some Iron Armbands of Power of the appropriate tier, unless they already have an item bonus, as from a Radiant Weapon. Two-Weapon fighting Half-Elves wouldn't mind Quickhit Bracers instead, to get an extra DPR off of Twin Strike, and add an extra minor action attack to a nova sequence.

Feet

At mid levels, Greaves of Maldeen give a nice speed boost. At high levels, Sandals of Avandra , Boots of Teleportation , or Zephyr Boots will give better mobility options.

Hands

Antipathy Gloves are 10th level items that are helpful enough in keeping your Oath going that you may wear them until you retire. If you'd rather look for DPR, Gauntlets of Destruction add about 0.5 per die rolled, but it won't stack with Brutal from your best weapons. Martyrs may prefer Gauntlets of Blinding Strikes , an 11th level item that gives you a multi-attack daily power.

Wonderous Items

Everyone likes Solitaires , eventually ending with a Violet Solitaire if possible

The most popular tattoo is is Backlash Tattoo , for yet another off-action attack each encounter.

Most will want the free damage that is represented by a Dragonshard. Painful Oath , by recent customer service rulings, adds the Radiant keyword to the attack you use it with, so you do not need a lightsaber to fully use Siberys Shard of Radiance . Those that go for Lasting Frost will want the cold shard instead.

If you use blades, a Ruby Scabbard can be handy. The more expensive versions just up the negligible damage from the encounter power, so don't worry about upgrading.
