Not much to say about Syntagma, except that it is the place of the parliament and generally all the demonstrations end in front of this building.
Tourists from the hotel of Grande Bretagne (luxury hotel on the square) often attended, stunned, at events of fights between police force and demonstrators.
Anyway, what else there is to see around? There is a large park in Athens for those who love the parks, if you are tired of the Athenian mess, you can spend a few hours in the National Garden of Athens. The park has playground for children and a small zoo. There are also some ancient ruins around the park.
Close to Syntagma there is also the district of Plaka for those who seek for restaurants, and there's Kolonaki neighborhood for those who want to gentrify.
You will certainly pass by Syntagma, because it is the central hub of transportation for bus, tram, metro to Piraeus and airport.
