Kato Patissia was my neighborhood, I lived there for two years, so I have a bit of fondness for this area, although I am aware that it has nothing special, a neighborhood like many others in Athens, anonymous, monotonous, designed in hurry to deal with the influx of migrants.
Do not forget that just a hundred years ago Athens was a village, today it is the city that we know, huge, with over 4 million inhabitants.
So nothing special in Kato Patissia, the same ugly buildings elsewhere, the same periptero (kiosk), the same vendors of giros, the same Goodies, somehow a symbol of the uniformity suffered by many Greek cities.
Oh...I'm getting too hard with Greece, I will try to put some color in this painting a little bit gray, because i'm also often surprised by this country and its people.
In Kato Patissia the sun come from its two markets, there you will find all the charm of Greece and its people, cheeky, cheerful, convivial, then for a while we forget the concrete and the crisis that undermines the country.
Kato Patissia is the lower part of Patissia, a area splited in two neighbourhoods by the metro line, the upper part is called Apo Patissia. The main streets of Patision Av. and Acharnon Av cross the area.
Ano Patissia and Kato Patissia are both served by the metro of Athens.
