Cemetery of Mets, Athens. Πρώτο Νεκροταφείο Αθηνών

In the district of Mets you will find the first big cemetery of Athens, which was built in the nineteenth century. (1837)

Among the countless number of graves, there are plenty of famous greeks; politicians, military leaders, benefactors, artists, actors, churchmen.(one of the main attraction for visitors are the graves of Melina Mercouri and Jules Dassin).

The cemetery it self is a nice place to stroll, through the sculptures, the funerary monuments and the cypress.
