Arta is a medium-sized city located in north-west Greece, in the region of Epirus. Arta is best known for its medieval bridge over the river Arachthos. Arta is also known for its well-preserved 13th century castle and its Byzantine churche Paregoretissa Panagia, built around 1290, a marvel of Byzantine architecture. (the Castle is usually closed to the public)
The church of Saint Theodora is another fine example of Byzantine architecture. Do not miss to visit also the Archaeological Museum of Arta and Skoufas folk museum.
Arta itself is a nice small town that deserves at least a half-day of visit. There are many bars and restaurants serving excellent food.
Arta is located between Agrinio and Ioannina, buses run regularly to Athens, Patras, Ioannina, Thessaloniki and other cities.
Here a black & white shooting of some interesting buildings and places.
