About ARNA Proceedings 2014

Welcome to the first ARNA 2014 Conference Proceedings!

Dear Readers,

We appreciate you viewing the ARNA Conference Proceedings pages. It is with great

pleasure and delight that we share ARNA members’ work in this first ARNA 2014

Conference Proceedings publication. Developing this first publication has been an

educational, rewarding and collaborative journey.

The ARNA Proceedings Editorial Team was charged with the significant and exciting

task of establishing procedures and protocols for the submission, review and publication

of ARNA’s first proceedings. In keeping with the spirit of ARNA and in collaboration with

the members of the ARNA Coordinating Group, the Proceedings Editorial Team’s work

was guided by the principles of inclusivity, multi-vocality and diversity. As a result, the

ARNA 2014 Conference Proceedings include manuscripts written in both English and

Spanish languages and contributed by practitioners and researcher from each of the

ARNA 2014 Conference presentation categories (i.e., roundtable, poster, symposium,

working group, workshop and paper presentations).

All manuscripts in this publication were reviewed for content, for accessibility by an

international audience, and for adherence to the ARNA Proceedings manuscript

preparation guidelines. All authors whose manuscripts were accepted for publication

received feedback about their submissions, through preliminary and secondary reviews

conducted by the members of the ARNA Proceedings Editorial Team. The published

manuscripts reflect the original writing style of each author to honor author’s voice and

expression as well as the unique contexts and settings represented in each author’s

work.

The ARNA Proceedings Editorial Team members are grateful to all authors who

presented at the ARNA 2014 Conference for their time, contribution, courage,

commitment, and patience as they were preparing manuscripts for publication in these

Proceedings. The Editorial Team members are especially thankful to authors for whom

English is a second or additional language. We are inspired by the authors’ dedication

to the international action research community and contribution to ARNA knowledge

mobilization.

The ARNA Conference Proceedings processes and procedures will continue to evolve

and mature over time. As an old saying goes, “Every ending is a new beginning;” by

closing this chapter with the publication of the ARNA 2014 Conference Proceedings, we

are opening new pages. We plan to reflect on our experiences to continue refining the

review processes and procedures associated with subsequent ARNA Proceedings

publications.
