The Diepio Manager Guide
Here is the argument made by u/REALMADEINGREECE to become a manager when a tank grows up.
The manager in diep.io is one of the least used classes, but one of the best in my view... If used carefully, it can be very formidable. In a quick battle, Manager can beat Overlord, you just have to get your drones to it first and try your best to avoid their drones.
THE MANAGER
The manager is tank class that is a combination of Overseer and Stalker. It is one of SIX upgrades available to the overseer when reaching level 45. The manager's hiding effect is the same as the Stalker. Its appearance is similar to Overseer, except that it only has one trapezium on front. Like all other drone tanks, it is best to turn on auto fire (E) because your drones won't spin around you and give away your position. Manager is a great class if you have patience. Spawner reloads faster than those of an Overlord or Overseer to reach up to 8 DRONES. It is also one of the only tanks that can go INVISIBLE: Invisibility is an ability exclusive to the Manager, Stalker, and Landmine, and is used for the purpose of defense, evasion, or deception. It is activated only when a player is not moving or firing. It takes the manager 2.35 seconds to fully turn invisible.. Managers can still spawn Drones without dispelling their invisibility. Remember that Managers are still vulnerable even when invisible. Managers are best described as an elegant, interesting, and a not very aggressive class.
OFFENSIVE-DRONE TECHNIQUES
Claw & Anti-Claw
Claw
All drone users know this. Just repel your drones in a giant semi-circle and gather them together on your target. Best for overlords, with their high reload. Hard to escape.
Another claw technique is to repel from the side, to baffle the enemy on your position and to act as an Anti-Anti-Claw
When the enemy player is performing the claw technique, one option is to counter-claw, destroy as many drones as possible one by one, or to perform the Anti-Claw technique
Anti-Claw
To counter the claw in this way, destroy the front drones of the enemy, and repel your drones into the gap. This will probably not kill the enemy but it will force him to recall his drones in order to defend himself, giving you a chance to retreat, or go invisible. Just watch your back for the recalled drones!
Deterrence
My favorite. Best for cautious players, a way to counter cautious players, and a way Manager can counter Overlord's superior reload (yes I found a way).
When seeing a drone class having its drones close to its body, one way to kill it or deter it from attacking, is to move it's drones close to it and act accordingly:
If it goes away, you decide.
If it tries to destroy the drones (cautious players do this) , swing them around its drones and kill the player.
If it tries to attack you (riskier for them), you pounce on its body before it's drones get to yours. You will probably get the kill, since in the method of deterrence you will position your drones closer to the enemy, than the enemy to you. You won't get the kill if you use a trash build with low drone speed lol.
OFFENSIVE-STRATEGIES
When trying to kill other players, SWING YOUR DRONES AROUND THEM and attack them from the REAR, OR go invisible somewhere safe, lure them in with your drones and when they get close enough, GO FOR THE KILL
Managers are easy prey for RAMMERS...But, the trick is: When a rammer is approaching DON'T ATTACK!!! Bring the drones close to you and slowly retreat. If the rammer attacks SHIELD yourself with your drones. If he attacks, he'll ram into them, which will deal him plenty of damage and will force him to retreat. THEN IS YOUR CHANCE! Try to kill him with your drones now that he's weak. 95% chance it will work, unless he is fast which will reduce your chances to about 45%. Basically avoid contact unless victory is almost definite.
Managers are STRONG AGAINST: Distracted tanks with low DPS, solo tanks, tanks with low Reload, Smasher Classes, and Destroyer Classes.
Managers are WEAK AGAINST: Alert tanks with high DPS, bullet-spammers,and other overseer-branch classes.
GAMEMODES
TIPS AND TRICKS
FFA Camping in a spot in FFA could allow managers to kill without being spotted, but it might be suspicious to see little Drones appearing out of nowhere. Managers should be extra careful when they become the Leader, as other players will see an arrow pointing to the Leader's approximate location; however, the Leader arrow will disappear if close enough to the leader, so hiding as the Leader is still possible.Players should camp in a spot where there are a lot of tanks and Polygons, but not too many, as stray Bullets can reveal a Manager's presence. If you are using a drone build, you should always run along the edges of the map and avoid staying in the Pentagon nest. You will sooner or later get caught by bullet spammers there, and you are not that bulky to easily survive Managers should never stop controlling their Drones, as they will automatically fly in a circle around the Manager, basically giving away its location to other players since players are usually suspicious about these formations. Players can also camp in a deserted area, move their Drones into one spot and send them off their screen in one direction. Players can farm Polygons this way, and occasionally land kills. If they are not far from the Pentagon Nest, sending Drones there from afar will earn them some EXP. However, farming of any kind is discouraged in modes other than FFA, Maze, and TDM.
DOMINATION Camping around the Dominators in Domination mode may allow players to defend it while staying directly next to the Dominator, protecting the player's team and allowing them to attack / defend it and prevent the enemy team from attacking/defending. It is best for players to hide their Drones under the Dominator to make the Dominator seem "lonely", thus making it a magnet for other players which can be effectively scared away or killed.
TDM/TAG If possible in a Team Match, or tag mode, Managers could team up with an Overlord so it will not be too obvious to spot the Manager's Drones, for they're easy to confuse with the overlord's Drones. Also, it is useful to camp at a place that has a bullet storm from the player's team because enemies are mostly distracted. Just like the Overlord, Managers can go hunting for the other teams, but should be careful around enemy bases and their guardians. Also be careful not to get swarmed while alone. As soon as you see a bullet wave, start your retreat. Use stealth to regen. If your team is not dominant, don't wander off too far from the base as you will be an easy target. Otherwise, you are a powerhouse.
MAZE In Maze mode, players can camp around walls, or in dead ends, and kill people that come too near. It is also recommended to put the Manager's Drones in a position where the player are not, and make the enemy think the Manager is there. Then, when they try to attack the player, Managers can send their drones at them. Managers could also try making an artificial circle to further confuse enemies

Always remember to use the right click to finish off opponents off-screen.
Remember that you are still vulnerable even when invisible.
Practice avoiding spammer fire, it will give you the edge in a duel
BUILDS

Y U STILL PLAY OVERLORD?!
Manager has invisibility which can be used for evasion or deception of the enemy. I takes Manager 2.35 seconds to become fully invisible
Manager may have lower base reload than overlord, however if used effectively and in combination with invisibility and the first-strike technique it can be disastrous for most tanks (Even overlord)
Manager has 1 spawner instead of overlord's 4 however it produces drones faster, giving it the same base reload as overseer. This one spawner can also be used to communicate with your team because pointing to a certain direction is easier.
In my opinion Manager is just cooler than overlord in design and in function. No tank that can turn invisible can be lame! Besides, Overlord doesn't evolve from overseer much but manager adds invisibility.
Manager is harder to play in-game. It takes real skill and time to master Manager. Any noob can get kills with Overlord but it takes patience and skill to get them with manager.

u/Epickpk quote [1]: "First of all, Manager is not Overlord! The Manager class is not the Overlord class. They are extremely different and are meant for different playstyles. Many people try to play the Manager as if it's an Overlord, but it just doesn’t work out. Here’s why:-The Manager has less reload. The Manager has only 25%[50%]* of the Overlord’s reload. This may seem like a huge deal, but your target should be dead before you have to reload."

u/Epickpk quote [2]: "The Overlord is more so an offencive, reckless controller, that doesn’t require as much skill to rule over a lobby. The manager, however, is meant to play much more like an assassin (not the class)."
[deleted user] quote: "Keep your doritoes away from you, even if you are getting shot, you SHOULD be able to survive any collateral damage with my build, if you try to defend yourself with your doritoes you are likely to be spotted and killed. You should keep your doritos at max range in any corner of your screen, upper-left, upper-right, doesn't matter, just keep them at a corner at max range."
u/adasba quote: "I got to 100K with the manager on my first try. It is actually an amazing class if used correctly"
u/adeptist quote: "The Manager is one of the best tanks, it's heavily underrated"
u/TacoMipha quote: "Well I'm not the only one who thinks this class is OP apparently xD I prefer 0/1/2/7/7/7/2/7 myself ¯_(ツ)_/¯ and yes, you have to get the first attack right against an overlord or overseer, and you have to juke your drones around necros and hope you can get your drones to them before their drones can reach you. If you don't get the first attack, RUN AWAY as fast as possible. Reload is something the manager has a downside on, so they can be overtaken by other drone classes easily.
(Manager is excellent in maze as well)"
