GPA-Weighted Courses
Grade Points:
Grade points are assigned to each grade that a student earns based upon an 4.00 point scale. Grade point values are as follows:
A = 4.00 A- = 3.667 B+ = 3.333 B = 3.000
B- = 2.667 C+ = 2.333 C = 2.000 C- = 1.667
D+ = 1.333 D = 1.000 D- = 0.667 F = 0.000
CR = 0
GPA:
A student's Grade Point Average (GPA) is computed by dividing the total grade points earned by the number of courses completed.
Weighted Courses:
Due to the emphasis placed upon class rank and grade point averages by college admissions and scholarship award procedures, the more difficult college preparatory courses are assigned weighted values (See chart below).
Class Rank:
Rank is assigned according to each students grade point average. There are two criteria necessary for qualification status in the top 10% of a student's class:
Freshmen are required to have successfully completed one semester of three of the four core classes (English I, Algebra I or higher, Integrated Science or higher, and World History) .
Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors must have successfully completed one semester total of coursework at the college preparatory level.
Graduation Designation:
Special designation will be given to graduating seniors who meet the following criteria on the non-weighted, standard grade point value system: cum laude (3.2), magna cum laude (3.5), and summa cum laude (3.8 & higher).
