Spanish I 1.00 Credit 2 SEMESTERS
Grade Level(s): 9, 10, 11, 12
PREREQUISITES: None
MAJOR REQUIREMENTS OR PROJECTS: Students will make a presentation about themselves.
DESCRIPTION: Spanish I introduces the beginner student to the four skills (writing, speaking, reading and writing) of the Spanish language through the use of a textbook and authentic resources from the internet. The students will also learn about the different aspects of the culture of Spanish-speaking countries. This is a weighted course that will require comprehensive finals and completion of a course project.
Spanish II 1.00 Credit 2 SEMESTERS
Grade Level(s): 9, 10, 11, 12
PREREQUISITES: Recommend C- average or higher from previous level.
MAJOR REQUIREMENTS OR PROJECTS: Research Paper on a Hispanic Country.
DESCRIPTION: Spanish II the student continues the development of oral and written communication through the use of conversation, text, and authentic resources. The students read dialogue selections and continue the study of Spanish-speaking countries culture. There is emphasis on grammar through guided and independent practice. This is a weighted course that will require comprehensive finals and completion of a course project or research paper.
Spanish III 1.00 Credit 2 SEMESTERS

PREREQUISITES: Recommend C- average or higher from previous level.
MAJOR REQUIREMENTS OR PROJECTS: Research project.
DESCRIPTION: Spanish III, students continue acquiring proficiency in all four language skills - listening, speaking, reading and writing - with emphasis on the ability to interact orally and in written form. Students read fiction as well as non-fiction reading selections. This is a weighted course that will require comprehensive finals and completion of a course project or research paper.
Spanish IV 1.00 Credit 2 SEMESTERS

PREREQUISITES: Recommend C- average or higher from previous level.
MAJOR REQUIREMENTS OR PROJECTS: Research project.
DESCRIPTION: Spanish IV, students continue developing proficiency in all four language skills - listening, speaking, reading and writing - with emphasis on the ability to interact orally and in writing with increasing sophistication. This is a weighted course that will require comprehensive finals and completion of a course project or research paper.
Spanish V 1.00 Credit 2 SEMESTERS
Grade Level(s): 12
PREREQUISITES: Recommend C- average or higher from Spanish IV.
MAJOR REQUIREMENTS OR PROJECTS: Presentations on a theme, read Spanish novels, and short written essays, viewing & analysis of Spanish films.
DESCRIPTION: Spanish V seeks to be proficient in all four language skills - listening, speaking, reading, and writing. It is a continuation of Spanish IV and will give the student an advanced level of communication and deepen their language skills.
