GOAL(s): The goal of this project was to make a business. The business was about making cupcakes for the staff at SBHS. When it came time to extend that is what we did. Making four different kinds of cupcakes that went with the theme of the holiday. Making different frostings that went along with the cupcakes. The recipes were the biggest source of information that was necessary for the recipes of the different cupcakes and the frostings. Find all the ingredients and prices on Hannaford. Finding nutritional information about serving schools was what was given more research. We tried to get a lady that was on the food network channel, Nancy fuller got asked about ideas to make cupcakes better and how to advertise better. Rhonda Ketner is the Director Nutritional Services Dept. She got asked about the laws and rules of serving food for a school. It sounded like fun and it would be interesting to see how it would be planned. It was a group effort of the decision on the project, It was not a personal choice.
REFLECTION:
I learned that Group projects aren't that bad when doing the work and putting in the time they go by quickly. Working as a team and doing stuff together just makes the process a lot easier, the faster you do it the sooner it gets done. The idea of the project was something that I wasn't so thrilled about, I thought it was going to be something that we wouldn't be able to do in our own time, which was the opposite. Running the business aspect was new for the majority of the people in the group. The fact that it took so long for the project to start was another personal issue that I have noticed. I understand that we need to plan for the business and everything that we needed to practice. Some of the things, ideas, and topics took way longer than they needed to be planned out. When everything finally did get started, It was nice to be split into groups so that certain things got done faster. The same can be said for when we started to go to the kitchen and Bake, we all split into different groups to do different things on the cupcakes. I would have added a variety of baked goods and had a certain amount that those certain baked goods could get purchased. I would have tried to make the purchasing market a little broader than the option that we had.
OUTCOME: The project decided to go with the idea that we would be able to serve what we wanted, we needed to choose between kids and teachers. The teachers got the most votes because we wouldn't need to worry about the nutritional information and health guidelines. The cupcake flavors got picked out as well as the frosting. All of the information for pricing got marked down and written. The cupcakes got made and everything went well. Having part where the group needed to go off on its own to take care of things kept the piece. Having a good idea of when things would get done helped everyone have good time management. When everyone was in the kitchen, deciding to split into groups so it wasn't as crowded and difficult to work. Working together, not being able to do certain things when it was needed. The fact that it took so long to start on the goal at hand.
