About us:

El Dorado Search and Rescue Council, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization formed in 1982 to help fund the newly formed El Dorado County Search and Rescue (EDSAR). Our initial mission was to locate and rescue lost or injured subjects in the over 1,000 square mile Sierra Nevada wilderness that covers the eastern half of El Dorado County. That mission quickly expanded to cover all of El Dorado County and to provide mutual aid to counties throughout California.

Our SAR team is an all-volunteer organization under the direction of the El Dorado County Sheriff. Our disciplines include OHV, Mounted, K-9 (CARDA-certified), Technical Rope Rescue, Ground Searchers (rated Type I-IV), Swift Water Rescue, and Search Management.
