Student will be participating in an 8 hour Type -4 rescue class. The first 4 hours will be a classroom session covering hazard recognition, US&R ICS, resource description, hazmat issues, structural assessment, search procedures, collapse patterns and potential victim locations. The second four hour will be an all hands on session. This session will cover lifting, moving and stabilization of heavy objects and victim care, packaging and extrication
Biography
John Brenner is a retired Sacramento Fire Department Rescue Company Captain and is 38 year veteran of the fire service. He is currently working as a Battalion Chief with Garden Valley Fire District. John is also an El Dorado County Urban Search and Rescue Task Force Leader. Chief Brenner has been instructing in the field of technical rescue for over 35 years. John has participated on several committees developing urban search and rescue curriculums for the State of California. In 1989, John at the request of the California State Office of Emergency Services was asked to assist with the development of a state emergency response system to manage and mitigate disasters. This program has evolved into what is now known internationally as, “Urban Search and Rescue”. Chief Brenner has been a member of FEMA USAR CA TF-7 since its inception. John has responded to numerous disasters and served as a USAR Task Force Leader and Rescue Manager John was also servedand Task Force Training Coordinator for 15 years.
