We will have multiple screenings during the event from different cohorts of students at SAE Perth institute.
FOCUS: Short Film Production
Module Name: Film Studio 2 (FLM/FLP212)
Students have the opportunity to develop a project from early ideation through to industry-standard screen production (script to screen). These projects introduce students to the procedures and protocols of screen production as well as further developing students' skills in cinematography, lighting, and sound. Students have the opportunity to workshop scripts in real-life studio situations, working with and directing actors, going through all stages of production processes, implementing good production design, and collaborating with students from other disciplines, particularly audio students, to produce their final first year short film projects.
FOCUS: Documentary Film Making
Module Name: Film Studio 3 (FLM/P 213)
In this studio module, Documentary Production, projects are reflective of real-world scenarios. They showcase compelling stories, dilemmas, real-life situations, or societal issues that require solutions. Through short documentary projects filmed during in-class activities, and a main final documentary project for exhibition, students work in project teams towards understanding different documentary modes, writing a documentary proposal and a treatment, carrying out pre-production research, budgeting, and developing their pitching skills. Throughout the trimester, students hone their skills in cinematography, lighting, sound, interview techniques, location scouting, production design, and post-production, which culminate in the end-of-trimester showcase of their final documentary project.
FOCUS: Live Broadcast and client based multi-platforming
Module Name: Film Studio3 (FLM314/FLP314)
In Studio 3 you will continue to advance your filmmaking skills in the production of client-driven screen productions. Team work, collaborative skills and engagement with specific feedback processes all continue to be emphasised as you further refine and reflect on your Transferable Skills. You will engage with advanced producing concepts such as financing, budgeting, marketing and branding, and broaden your understanding of a range of production environments and protocols. High level production management and budgeting skills are introduced, and you must demonstrate the ability to respond creatively and pragmatically to a production brief, and engage in sophisticated feedback processes. Production values are a focus of this module and you are expected to begin to identify and emulate current industry practices and trends in order to compete as industry professionals. New skills in cinematography, directing and post are introduced along with the real world skills of working with clients and developing an online profile.
