I’ve always loved business, goals, data and dreams that are so crazy I can’t help but jump all in. I’ve been described as a natural entrepreneur with a big vision mindset. When COVID shut down life and the opportunity to study a Bachelor of Design and Visual Communication arose, I jumped in.
Coming from a background of high-level business development and elite-level sport, I understand the need for design collateral to be more than just attractive. It needs to be thoughtful, planned, disciplined and above all; perform.
My usual background allows me to look at every project individually. Incorporating my business development expertise, a deep understanding of up-to-date marketing practices, individual business goals, and client and target audience knowledge creates unique results.
“To produce a body of work that represents something that inspires you. This is a personal dive into the foundations of why you want to create”
This project I wanted to capture one's imagination, whilst linking to where I live and who am. I hope these designs will bring a moment of joy to the viewer and trigger a memory of a time when one simply let their inner child daydream.
Swan Valley Day Dreaming is designed to capture the sunrise, daytime and sunset in the beautiful Swan Valley, which is tucked between the ocean and the desert. This unique ecosystem and topography create rare and awe-inspiring panoramic views that underpin this project. Horses are also a big part of who I am. For this reason, I have created cloud animals in the shape of horses alongside the iconic Cockatoo that lives and breeds in the Swan Valley.
The sunrise scene incorporates bright pinks and. yellows to capture and emulate the rising sun, teamed with vibrant purples to create depth and interest
This scene focuses on the beautiful bright blue skies that Perth is famous for.
This scene is designed to showcase the wonderful depths of pinks and purples experienced when viewing the sunsets in the Swan Vally.
This stage required a collection of imagery to gain inspiration and establish colour palettes. Below you see the three times of day that are the start of this project development. I also collected cloud animal examples in order to understand the style I might wish to create, these images are also seen below.
On the left, you'll see images one and two that show the early style and creative development. Below is Image three, which shows the introduction of colour. This image was also used for screen test number one where I tested colour, as well as opacity and sizes differences between the cloud horses,
These three images demonstrate the early stages of scene development for each time of day. At this stage, the scenes are still quite flat, requiring the addition of depth and more colour for contrast.
These three images show the final scene creation for each time of day. Each scene has been designed with the view of animation but even as still images, they are full of colour, depth and interest. These images were then animated to emulate clouds rolling through the sky, complete with audio to create energy in the area.
