World of Gumball

"The Neighbour"

One of the projects in unit AUD213 we were tasked with completely recreating the sound for a short Animation. This is a scene from "The Amazing World of Gumball" episode "The Neighbour", aired by Cartoon Network in 2018. This project involved recording foley, dialogue, designing sound and composing soundtracks completely by ourselves, including organising the various equipment, props and voice actors which we would need for the production. Sound design was a major focus of the project as many sounds were not something that could not be easily recorded and instead had to be made from scratch such as snow ambiance and car crashes.

"The Neighbour" is the ninth episode of Season 6 of The Amazing World of Gumball, being the 205th episode overall. Following Gumball and Darwin as they try to find out the name of their next door neighbour, Antlers Guy, but accidentally blow his witness protection cover while trying to do this, getting mixed up with some bad people and leading to a dangerous escape plan.

Mixing and Mastering in 5.1

We mixed the whole project to be in 5.1 surround sound which created a more immersive experience to the animation through the manipulation of the surround sound field.

It also allowed for exploration into mixing using the increased space, now both in front and behind the listener.
