My name is Cerys and Iām a graphic designer and owner of a christian clothing company called Love Thy Neighbour Apparel. I was born in Wales in 1999 and grew up in a creative family and had a passion for art and computers from a young age. My family relocated to Australia later on.
While I was picking subjects for year 12, I decided on a whim to study a Cert II in Design. Throughout the course, I discovered my love and passion for graphic design and a bit of a natural talent for it. After leaving high school, I continued to do some casual graphic design work for my church and friends for a few years before deciding to start my Bachelor of Graphic Design at SAE Perth.
Since studying at SAE, I have grown more in skill and confidence. I have developed a soft, clean style with a little bit of funkiness. My favourite projects to work on are event collateral, layout design, branding and logo design. I am proficient in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and XD.

Our brief encouraged us to explore ourselves and identify the things as a whole, that inspire us to create. We had to create a motion graphic for the Yagan Tower, and a series of collateral that captures our inspirations.

I have always loved the way that I am able to connect with different emotions, my faith and my family through music.
Harry Styles is an artist who has always enabled me to experience a variety of emotions while listening to his music, especially joy and happiness. I love the song āMusic for a Sushi Restaurantā from his latest album, because of the positive vibe and energy. As soon as it starts,
I have a massive smile on my face and have a little boogie. I wanted to share this joy with anyone who walks through Yagan square, by creating illustrations inspired by the vivid imagery from the lyrics. I also had to work with audio students to create an upbeat seventies track, inspired by Harry Styles.
I have a very distinctive personal aesthetic that encapsulates a range of retro styles. I find myself drawn to the seventies because of the fun colours and uniqueness of the decade. I have combined this with the distinct features of nineties stickerbombing.

Each asset created was inspired by the storytelling in the lyrics of āMusic for a Sushi Restuarantā. I curated specific reference images of objects to create my illustrations. I decided to build all assets Illustrator, because I wanted to enhance my skills in creating vector art. I am very proud of the quality and versatility of my assets, and I am a lot more confident with my image making process.
I animated and render illustrations individually, before collating them in a final compostion. From here, effects could be cohesively applied across all assets, transforming them into animationed stickers.
Designing for Yagan tower was a unique experience, and I learnt the importance of preplanning, communicating with a live client, project management and self-directed learning.
