Photo Realism

The subject is Carter with a bucket on his head. This was made using mostly charcoal, although I did use ink to get the true black in the darkest parts, especially his shirt. This is supposed to be a photorealistic drawing of a picture I had. So I did not put much thought into the composition because I was drawing straight from the photograph.

I used framing because on the original piece, there is a 2 inch border on the top and on the bottom and no border on the sides. If you look to the right of his shirt, there are some seemingly random blotches of ink. Those are random blotches of ink because while I was doing his shirt with ink I accidentally knocked the bottle of ink over and spilled a ton on the paper. I just did my best to work around it and pretend it wasn't there.

I this picture would only be appealing to a certain audience. Mostly to people who have seen the original photograph. The story is that this is just a funny picture that I wanted to draw. This relates to my life because this is one of my favorite pictures and it was really awesome being able to draw it. If I could fix one thing it would be to have straighter lines in the background and to find a way to get rid of that massive ink blotch on the right side because I think that greatly takes away from the overall drawing.
