Beautiful Oops

The subject of this artwork is a stone wall with a farm in the background. To make this I mostly used a pencil, except for the ink blotches that were dropped on their randomly to begin with. I drew this because the ink looked like stones, then once I had drawn the wall I needed to fill more white space so I drew the rest of the background.

To draw this I gave it a high horizon line and balanced the picture by drawing elements on both sides to take up white space. To start, the paper was blank except for the blotches, originally I was going to turn them into stones in a riverbed, but then Ben gave me the idea to make them into a stone wall. From there I continued adding different aspects to the drawing until I had used most of the white space.

The drawing is just of a farm in Autumn. I tried to convey this by the overall mood of the drawing and the leaves blowing in the wind. In the drawing it is Autumn, and right now it is the beginning of Autumn, so I guess that is how it relates to my life. The only thing that bothers me is the tree. I have no idea how to draw a tree so it looks sloppy and unrealistic, especially the tips of the branches.
