Color Grid

The subject of this piece is various lines of primary, secondary, and tertiary colors with 3 tints and 3 shades of each. This was made with primed canvas, acrylic paint, a pencil, and a ruler. I chose this because the assignment was to show 12 colors and 7 tints or shades of each totaling 84 different sections. I thought that this would be a good way to organize it so that you could easily see the color grouped with it's shades and tints.

This piece was created using framing and formal balance. The pattern of the piece was supposed to be tidy although my painting skills are very undeveloped so it came out sloppier than I intended. There is also a one inch white border around the edge of the canvas which is cropped out in this image. Before I started working, I had a couple of different ideas of how I wanted to set this up. I knew I wanted a grid like pattern but I couldn't decide what shape(s) to do. I eventually decided on these hexagonal arrow shapes.

This piece reflects my organized personality because many people took this project in a weird crazy direction but mine just stayed basic and simple but effective. This relates to my life because I painted it. I should have added more layers to the lighter colors especially the greens and yellows because my brush strokes bled through quite a bit.
