Artist Inspired

The subject of this piece is a gothic style church with the perspective from the front and slightly to the side. This was made on regular paper with a regular pencil and a regular ruler. The assignment was to mix our assigned artist's style, with that another style. My assigned artist was Picasso who founded cubism and my chosen style was gothic architecture. The cubism can mostly seen in the trees and the background. It can also be seen in the closest corner of the building where the top half is slightly offset from bottom as was common in cubic paintings.

I used a high horizon line so I could capture more of the environment and the church. I also used informal balance by having the church mostly off to the right side. This put focus on the cubic trees and the background as well. Before I made the final project, I made a quick sketch of what I wanted to do. The sketch was pretty awful and mostly scribbles but it gave me an idea of what I wanted the final project to look like. Then I just replicated it onto another piece of paper and only changed minor details.

This is a gothic style church that is in the middle of nowhere. There are no other buildings around and it seems abandoned. This piece doesn't relate to my life because it is not my style. It was inspired by different artists and different styles so unlike the other pieces I would say that this one does not relate to my life. I wish I added color because it looks bad without it. Also color was part of Picasso's style.
