Still Life

This image is a rose from above, with a backdrop of an unfinished wood floor. I took a bouquet of flowers and placed it on the floor in front of a window for natural light then photographed it from above . I wasn't really sure how to represent family, so I just took a standard still life from above, although I guess the other roses could represent a family.

I used extreme perspective from a birds eye view, as well as a kind of informal balance from the top to the bottom. I took several photos of the flowers, looking at them from different angles with different kinds of lighting, I purposely brightened the red and darkened the green for greater contrast.

The flowers are their own kind of family I guess, all brought together to be picked and die so people can give gifts and make their house prettier. I gave these flowers to Piper a few days before I took this photo, so there's that. I don't really like the red, it's a little too bright and unfocused, I could change that and darken them.
