Abstraction

The subject of this image is a piece of wood sticking out from a woodpile. I zoomed in really close on this piece of wood to make it the only thing in the frame. I wanted it to be really hard to see what the image was about other than knowing it was a piece of wood.

This image uses leading lines and informal balance with the positioning of the wood within the frame, as well as high key lighting from the light colored wood. I had trouble finding a good subject for this abstraction image, and was just kind of taking pictures of things up close and when I went back through I realized that if I edited the background a little bit I could make it disappear.

This image almost looks like a bridge, leading off into the dark, into the unknown, much like my life at the moment, with graduation fast approaching. I wish that more of the foreground was in focus but I couldn't figure out how to make that happen, maybe change the aperture?
