Primary Colors

This is the outside of a house, which counts as outdoors, if not entirely nature. I knew about this yellow door set in a red walled building and knew that this is what I wanted to use for this image. I chose to create this because I liked the way the door looked centered in the frame, and I knew if I edited it properly the reds and yellows would look cool together.

I used mostly formal balance but it could be argued that there is some informal balance with the snow only being on one side of the door. There is also an element of high key lighting in the image, with the rather bright yellow door in the center. I initially misunderstood the project and only had the red and yellow in the picture, but was able to quickly change the white snow to a more bluish color. I also had two different edited versions, in one the yellow door was a duller, more mustard color yellow, but I went with the brighter yellow one.

This picture holds lots of potential, who knows what's behind the door? It's full of possibilities. As a senior in high school, many new doors are opening up to me, with college, my gap year, and beyond. I wish I had a different way of representing blue in the photo, I don't really like the way the blue snow turned out. I could go back and really change the color but it would look less realistic that way.
