This is a close up of tree bark in the woods, I tried to find a tree with enough texture in the bark to make an interesting photo. I used manual focus and got really close to the bark to take this image. I chose to take a picture of this tree because I love the outdoors, and I love the way that the texture of the bark looks up close. I used selective focus and low key lighting in this photo.

In this image I use informal balance with the knot of the tree on the right hand side of the photo, selective focus on the knot, and overall low key lighting on the image. It took me a while to figure out what I wanted to photograph for this picture, finding something to take a picture of that was all the same color was a pain, and I eventually settled on this.

I am fascinated by the shapes and textures of nature up close, and in this case, the shapes of the bark, I think it's uniquely beautiful. I enjoy the outdoors and nature, I love finding the natural beauty of the world.

I wish the image was actually more in focus up through the foreground, but this was the only way to make sure that most of the image was in focus. If I had pulled back a little more or changed the aperture maybe it would have been more in focus.
