ABSTRACT
As the world changes around us daily, so must managers change and adapt to the new methods of management. We cannot depend on the old ‘boss mentality’ of sitting behind a desk, barking orders at employees, expecting the employees to get the tasks completed without any kind of affirmation of their job well-done. Failing to recognize the employee(s) can result in employees feeling discontent and believing they are unappreciated in their daily tasks. Instead of the employee feeling they are recognized for the hard work, and otherwise appreciated, the employees can feel unnoticed or feel that the company does not care about them or their well-being. This perceived lack of caring can result in higher employee turn-over, or simply employees that are present to only collect a paycheck and not to contribute to the company in a positive capacity. We must rely on new methods of management that include leadership now. This paper will discuss Democratic Leadership (the author’s method), Autocratic Leadership, Laissez-Faire Leadership, and Bureaucratic Leadership. It will also be discussed how these methods are assisting with employee appreciation, employee recognition, employee performance, and overall happier employees and leadership that are more willing to go above and beyond fulfilling their purpose within the company.
