Before and After School Grant Proposal

Major: Early Childhood Studies

ABSTRACT

Great Head Start and Kindergarten is a welcoming program that provides education to children around the city. Children learn strategies that can help develop their emotional, social, and cognitive skills to become lifelong learners. Although the center is open from 8am-4pm, the staff recognizes the majority of the parent population is in need of before and after school care. This is largely due to obligations such as work, school, doctor’s appointments, and other commitments. The goal of the center is to ensure that parents are getting all the support the need while meeting the needs of their children. It has been noted that multiple parents arrive late picking up their children because they are still working. Parents also have to leave work early just to pick up their child on time which may cause conflict with employers. A grant will help fund and provide necessities for a before and after-school program. Parents will benefit from this program because they will not have to rush to pick up their children from school. Children will also benefit as they will be able to use this time to complete school work and tutoring. It was also noted that some children may struggle with school work and this can be an awesome way for children to get the help they need after school.
