ABSTRACT
This project analyzes the impact on student learning throughout a teaching unit. The unit is focused on a First Grade math unit teaching the finding of unknown numbers in addition and subtraction. The lessons given to students during the unit focus on different ways to find an unknown number in both addition and subtraction problems. To analyze the impact on student learning, students were given a pre-test and post-test in order to determine how the lessons throughout the unit made an impact on the students' scores. The results show that the lessons taught and given throughout the unit can improve students’ scores between the pre-test and post-test. The data further shows the growth in the number of test questions answered correctly. From a teaching perspective, this assessment will show the impact on student learning based on lessons given between a pre-test and a post-test given in the classroom. The lessons taught can have an impact on what is learned by the students throughout the lesson.
