ABSTRACT

Every educator has ideas about what they want incorporated and implemented into their classroom. The purpose for developing a Philosophy of Education document is to help clearly define and articulate those ideas. The goal of this paper is to help develop a Philosophy of Education while pursuing a career as an early childhood educator. After doing the necessary research, it has been decided by this educator that incorporating a classroom that nurtures, respects, and values students is a favored educational approach. The environment that children learn in can influence how their development will play out and progress. Educators must ensure that each child’s culture, language, ethnicity, and family structure are recognized and valued within the program (NAEYC, 2011). An important role for educators is to create strong relationships with every child in their classroom, as well as their family, and to create a welcoming environment for everyone that is a part of the classroom environment.
