Letter From Ahlum 

Dear Rio Grande Families,

Thank you to those who could attend yesterday’s Coffee with Scarola. The conversations were rich and informative. The topic of technology, particularly social media, is clearly at the top of our minds as parents. For those who couldn’t join, we focused our discussion on Jonathan Haidt’s book The Anxious Generation. I encourage everyone to watch the 8-minute news clip included in the attached PowerPoint.

A special thanks to Ms. Brayman (4th Grade Lead Educator), Ms. Laura (Librarian), and Ms. DD (Pequeños Associate Educator) for leading our recent discussion. They are excited to continue these important conversations through a book club and have put together this survey to gauge community interest.

The next Coffee with Scarola will be held on November 19th after drop-off in the library. Our focus will be on the school’s Core Values - we’ll be asking participants to weigh in on whether these values still represent our community and how we might approach updating them. Your input is essential as we work together to ensure our values align with who we are today. We hope to see you there!
