Letter From Ahlum

Dear Rio Grande Community,

The weeks between Thanksgiving and Winter Break always seem to fly by! This time of year is typically filled with activities, events, and celebrations—Rio Grande School is no exception.

We've put together a calendar of December events to help everyone stay organized and ensure nothing important is missed. A printed version went home with students yesterday, but if it didn’t make it to you—or if you prefer a digital option—you’ll find the calendar below.

A few of the larger events to keep on your radar include tonight’s Winter Concert, starring our littlest Rio Grande Hawks (Pequenos through Second Grade), the Bienvenidos gift giving, our annual Food Drive, and of course, Farolito Night. These are some of our community’s favorite traditions, and we encourage you to participate in as many as you can!

Thank you for staying engaged during this busy but joyful season. We look forward to celebrating with you in the coming weeks!

Farolito Night is Back!

Mark your calendars for Thursday, December 12, and join us for this magical evening! Bring your family, friends, and grandparents—everyone is welcome to be part of the fun.

The RGS community is once again partnering with Bienvenidos Outreach to provide holiday gifts for children in Santa Fe experiencing homelessness and food insecurity. For some of these children, these may be the only gifts they receive - your generosity is greatly appreciated!

To participate please read through the list of children’s wishes and select those that you want to provide gifts for. For each child, there is a gift wish and a clothing size given. If you are able, Bienvenidos asks that you consider providing a clothing item in addition to the requested gift.

RGS Bienvenidos Gift Requests 24-25

To ensure equality among the gifts within a family, Bienvenidos has asked that children from the same family be grouped together. BUT, that doesn’t mean one person needs to buy gifts for an entire family - get together with a group of friends and sponsor a family! If you don’t have a group but would still like to provide a gift for a child within a larger family, please email us and we can partner you up with others to provide for an entire family.

All gifts should be wrapped, with gift tags noting the child’s name and ID number (that’s the number listed before each wish) and delivered to Miranda in the front office before Farolito Night OR bring them to Santa on Farolito night Thursday, December 12th.

Tuition Assistance Applications for the 2025-2026 academic year are due by February 3, 2025. Rio Grande School uses Clarity as our third-party Tuition Assistance platform. Clarity offers many resources to help you navigate the relatively simple process including a Family Info Webinar: 12/10/2024 @ 5:30pm PT. This webinar will review the Clarity Application Process.

Don't Forget to Place Your Lunch Orders! December Menu is Now Live!

Due to low order numbers, we have been keeping the ordering window for lunch open.

To ensure your order is received in time it is recommended to place your lunch orders at least a week ahead, for the following week.

Check weekly menus, load your bank, place orders and more at EZ School Apps.

Please ensure your students pack enough snacks to comfortably get them through the school day.
