Hi RGS Families,
It’s that magical time of year again—when our front walkway transforms into a swirl of generosity and our Hawks prove (yet again!) that they have the biggest hearts in Santa Fe.
Our Annual RGS Gift Collection with Bienvenidos is officially underway! We’re partnering to provide holiday gifts for 100 incredible children in our community, and we’d love your help spreading some cheer.
Here’s how to join the fun:
Use the link to sign up for a child HERE
Wrap up your gifts with love and the correct ID number (our organizational elves insisted we emphasize that part).
Drop off your gifts under the holiday tree in the front walkway.
Please initial the check-in sheet so we know everything arrived safe and sound!
Gifts must be at RGS by December 8th.
Every gift makes a child’s holiday brighter, and every family that participates makes our community shine even more. Thank you for keeping the RGS spirit of giving alive and absolutely thriving.
Let the holiday magic begin!
Check out these limited time After School Activities! We are offering these to fill the gap before Winter Break.
After-School Class with Ms. Cottle
Are you inspired by art, stories, and the beauty of New Mexico?
Join Ms. Cottle for a creative after-school class exploring ekphrastic poetry—poetry inspired by works of art!
In our first sessions, students will learn about ekphrastic poetry, read examples, and discuss how poets use art to spark imagination and storytelling. Then, students will choose a piece of artwork—or even one of their own—to inspire an original poem. Together, we’ll also explore this year’s statewide poetry theme: “One Land, Many Stories,” celebrating New Mexico’s unique culture, history, and landscape.
Students will have the option to submit their finished poems to the statewide contest organized by the New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs. For more information about the contest—including rules, deadlines, and submission links—visit nmculture.org/poetry.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
What should my child wear for the performance?
This year our concert theme is birds. To fit with this theme, I will be purchasing bird costume accessories for all of the students in the show. As a part of their costume, I am requesting that students wear all black (Tops & Bottoms) for this performance.
When should we arrive for the performance?
Families should arrive and drop off students in their homeroom classrooms at 4:45 PM. Families can then proceed to the MAC and find seats for the performance. Seating is on a first come / first serve basis & the doors to the MAC will not open until 4:45 PM.
Where should we park?
Families should park in any available spot in the RGS parking lot or on Camino Cabra.
How many people can I invite to the performance?
Seating in the MAC is very limited and there will be around 100 students performing in this concert, so please use your best judgement when inviting people to attend.
How long is the performance?
Approximately 30-40 minutes - The Pequeños and Grandes students will perform a few short songs to begin the concert. When they have finished, the Kindergarten, First Grade, and Second Grade students will perform.
Where do I pick up my child after the performance?
When the performance is done, students will be dismissed back to their homeroom classrooms with their teachers. Families should pick up their children there.
Who should I contact if my child is unable to participate in the performance?
Please email Ms. Terri ASAP at terri_scullin@riograndeschool.org if your child will not be able to participate in the performance.
