Dear Rio Grande Community,
This is an exciting and meaningful time of year for our sixth graders. They are wrapping up their elementary school years and preparing to move on to the next stage of their lives—middle school!
As this important transition approaches, we celebrate this remarkable group's many accomplishments and lasting contributions. I know I speak for the entire faculty and staff when I say they will be deeply missed. These students embody so much of what we value at Rio Grande School—curiosity, creativity, compassion, and a strong sense of community.
This week, they are sharing their theatrical talents with the entire school through their performance of Alice in Wonderland Jr., showcasing not only their stage presence but also their collaboration and perseverance. But there is no rest for the weary! Next week, they’ll set off on a three-night, four-day expedition with Cottonwood Gulch, capped by a sunrise summit of Mt. Taylor—a beautiful and symbolic rite of passage.
Meanwhile, they are also hard at work writing and preparing their graduation speeches—a true reflection of their voices, growth, and gratitude.
We warmly invite all families to join us in celebrating our sixth-grade graduates at their commencement ceremony on Friday, May 30, at 1:30 p.m. in the MAC. Join us in honoring their journey and celebrating all they’ve become.
Best,
Ahlum Scarola
